HISTORY OF SETTLEMENT ALONG NARUTOWICZA STREET IN ŻYCHLIN

ABSTRACT

The buildings along Narutowicza Street, the principal street of Żychlin – a small town founded in the 16th century on the border of the Łęczyca and Mazovia regions, today in the Łódź voivodeship – provide a good example of harmonious Classicist architecture from the late 19th century. The street’s axis is closed with the facade of the town’s late-Baroque parish church. Plotted with this effect in mind, the street reflects the predominantly North-South direction of the historic tract from Łęczyca and Orłowo to Płock.
