ASSESSMENT AND CERTIFICATION ISSUES OF SUSTAINABLE ARCHITECTURE OBJECTS

LUCJAN KAMIONKA

The sustainable development includes three areas of circumstances created in the harmonious form: ecological, social and commercial. The significance of architecture and building as one of the biggest sectors of the industry plays important role in the creation of sustainable development. Programs like BREEAM, and LEED have unified the procedures of design and now they give the certificates to the buildings raised according to the accepted standards. These programs are perceived as more and more prestigious in the eyes of investors, users and designers. Obviously not all investors will apply for such certificates and take part in the qualifying procedure – mainly for the economic reasons. Nevertheless all designers and investors should use standards of design independently from the qualifying procedures, in order to achieve goals of sustainable development.

Key words: sustainable development, sustainable architecture, programs certifying.
