ROBERT MUSIAŁ

The characteristic feature of contemporary cities is not only territorial expansion but also accompaning development of its urban structure in terms of a 3-dimension. The history of the European cities dating back many centuries ago has been preserved in their spatial structure, and this is why the third dimension of contemporary urban development is of special relevance. This paper compares transformations of urban landscapes of Paris and London, one of the biggest, yet comparable European cities. Based on the analysis of these two competing European metropolises, specific individual characteristics of their spatial images were identified.
