ARCHITECTURAL DETAIL OF WARSAW TENEMENT HOUSES IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE 19th CENTURY AND IN THE BEGINNING OF THE 20th CENTURY: BALCONIES

This topic continues the research and studies of subsequent types of architectural detail of the 19th and 20th centuries in Warsaw tenement houses. The gathered field data, photographic documentation, archive and library studies and building dating (partially in line with the author’s method), resulted in outlined formal-stylistic, material, technologic evolution of the detail important for shaping elevation. The balconies were an important element of the facade composition; they were influenced by the progress in using iron and changing artistic trends.
