PERFORMANCE QUALITY OF AN OFFICE BUILDING AND ALTERNATIVE OFFICE WORKPLACE STRATEGIES

The aim of this paper is to present how office buildings should perform in a world characterised by intense commercial competition, rapidly developing information technology and changing user expectations. A review on different aspects of office building performance quality and alternative office workplace strategies is presented. Alternative office workplace strategies, new ways of working that combine efficiently facilities, people and information and communication technology, are the most visible aspect of changes in office work.
A modern office building should meet a number of requirements in consideration of changes in office work and contemporary organisational needs. The needs and requirements can be defined by methods of quality evaluation. Based on the literature review, the paper gives a wide range of examples of methods, techniques and tools of building performance evaluation. A brief survey on the new advances of evaluation methodology is provided.
The paper sums up with a conclusion, that the quality of office buildings is relative and changing. It is specified by how office buildings can best support changing users’ needs.
