SPACE IN THE BAROQUE ROMAN ARCHITECTURE

Analyses of style not always fulfill their role, however there is a question of describing characteristic features of forms and their historical determinants in researches on early moder art, including architecture.One of the most important feature of the ecclesiastical architecture in Rome of the seventeenth century is the way of creating space. Comparative studies of selected buildings like churches by Maderno, Borromini, Bernini, Rainaldi and Guarini, enable to perceive their architecture in the context of the processes occured in the culture of the epoch and see the common denominator which was the fascination of the question of infinity and relativity of perception of space by the „Man of baroque".
